Leeds

Leeds is a city and metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, Leeds has a population of 761,100 and forms the cultural, financial and commercial heart of the wider West Yorkshire Urban Area, Leeds has the second highest population of any local authority district in the UK (after Birmingham), and the second greatest area of any English metropolitan district (after Doncaster), extending 15 miles from east to west, and 13 miles from north to south. Over 65% of the Leeds district is covered with green belt land and the city centre is less than twenty miles from the Yorkshire Dales National Park, offering some of the most spectacular scenery and countryside in the UK.

Leeds is well known for its sporting culture and large number of resident students. Its economy thrives on the industries of education and the service sector. The unemployment rate is low. Leeds has one of the busiest railways in the UK. Leeds residents have the benefit of a sophisticated transport system. The city is also serviced by a large bus network, including a free bus service in the centre. Leeds Bradford International Airport is located between the cities of Leeds and Bradford.

Leeds Property Market

As one of the fastest growing cities in the UK, property in Leeds continues to increase in price. Due to the large population of university students, the rental market in Leeds is strong. The revitalisation of Leeds City Centre has made it a popular place to live and the building boom over the past decade has provided would-be city dwellers with plenty to choose from. There are numerous schemes in the pipeline, including a couple of large regeneration schemes - notably, Holbeck Urban Village, and the new urban quarter in Eastgate & Harewood (600 new homes). The north and west sides of the city are well suited to families, while the south side is favoured by first time buyers due to the more reasonably priced property.
